A Servant's Heart by Megan Kinney

A passage that was shared at the beginning of this trip was Romans 12.  This passage talks about being a living sacrifice to God.  Romans 12:1-2 says; “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you.  Let them be a living sacrifice- the kind he will find acceptable.  This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

These children are truly modeling the life of Christ every single day.  When they pray they aren’t shocked or surprised when their prayers are answered they have the faith that they will be answered and that the Lord will hear their prayers.  No matter what mood, no matter how hungry, no matter how tired, no matter what horrible things they have experienced throughout their lives, they are modeling and living the life Christ has told us to live.  It is truly amazing and humbling to see their love or others and their love for Christ.

It is so amazing to watch them be kids by giggling and playing games, but at the same time be much like a role model to me and how I should be living my life from day to day by being a servant to others, by showing the love that Christ has shown us.  They have taught and shown me so much and it is my prayer to practice this servant hood, this selflessness, and just the all around faith and love they show to one another each and every day.

“…let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”  Romans 12.

Forever Changed by Ashlyn

The moment I committed to this trip I fell in love with everything about India. From the old buildings to the stunning people, I knew that I was going to see God shake this country with his unending love. I was able to see God work the moment after stepping off the plane and now am actually developing relationships with people. I am forever changed.

We have spent most of the time with the children and from the first day, I didn’t just see them try and resemble God, but they did. I have never truly met someone who I felt could say, “Yes, they are the perfect example of God” before. I know these children are not perfect, but the love, kindness, and patience they have for one another, and for others, is something I have never seen. They have all impacted my life in this short amount of time in an indescribable way. Now having the honor of knowing them and the staff at the orphanage, I cannot imagine not having the impact from them. Not knowing them would mean not seeing a true example of heaven coming down to earth.
